Captains Update No 8 - August 2021

 

STONE CROWN BOWLING 2021 SEASON UPDATE No 8

INTRODUCTION

Looking forward to September, this will be the last month of the outdoor Bowling Season. Just a few dates for your diary are listed below. There are also plenty of activities during the Winter months.

VOLUNTEERING

Firstly, we have had a fantastic response to our plea for volunteers to help out with the Green and Surrounds maintenance work.  A big thank you to all those that have put their names down for the various tasks. At the moment we are concentrating on finding a Greenkeeper which is after all our most important asset. Once we have got that secured we will be looking at building the teams for the surrounding work. So please be patient. We will be contacting you in due course.

We are pleased to have a volunteer for the Treasurer role. Jackie Hemmings will be taking over from Peter Lyell.

BOWLING PROGRAMME

  1. Finals Day       Finals Day was a great success with some really close games and an enjoyable day for all those involved. A poster of the finalist winners and runners up can be found on the notice board and on the previous Blog.
  2. Captains Day    There has been a huge response to Captains Day which is on Saturday 11th September. I will be sending out the details shortly and hoping to do something a little different for the Captains Challenge. Once again I will be troubling you for donations for the ever popular Raffle. If you can spare a small gift as a raffle prize please leave them in the office or bring them along on the day.
  3. Future Event              Over the coming weeks look out for posters for Charity Day which will be held on Saturday 2nd October and the Annual Dinner and Trophy Presentations which will be held on Thursday 21st October. Note that numbers are limited for the Annual Dinner. We would very much like all competition winners and runners up to attend.
  4. Friendly Matches       Our last remaining matches in September are: Betley BC Home on Sunday 19th September, Amasal Parkinson BC Home on Tuesday 21st September and Betley BC Away on Sunday 26th September. Look out for these posters on the notice board if you wish to play.
  5. Indoor Bowling          We have had quite a good response to our poster for Indoor Bowling. We anticipate starting on Monday 4th October. Those that have put their names down on the poster will be contacted during this coming month.
  6. Games Nights        Games Nights (Cards, dominoes, Darts etc) will start on Tuesday 5th October.
  7. SCARABS          The winter walking programme will start on Tuesday 12th October (See Poster)
