Captain's Update No 3

INTRODUCTION

Firstly I would like to thank members for accepting me as your Captain for 2021/2022. I would also like to thank Brian Ball for offering me excellent guidance in preparation for this role. This season it is going to be ‘interesting’ to see how it develops. Hopefully we will be in full swing by the second half of the season. Below are a few notes resulting from the Committee meeting yesterday (2nd April)

GREEN ACCESS

The BCGBA guidelines have been released for bowling to restart. Having considered the guidelines we have decided that the best course of action for April is to stay with the booking system and ‘Rule of 6’. This means either 3 x Single games or 1 x Doubles and 1 x Single game in any 1 hour period. Green will be open 11am to 4pm allowing for 5 periods per day. Hours will be extended as weather improves. We have arranged for Toilet Facilities in the Clubhouse. Arrangements have been made for bowlers to use the Disabled toilet only. In order to gain access to the toilets you will need to have a key and understand the alarm system.

  • If you do not currently have a key to the clubhouse, please email Lol Cooper at lolcoops@aol.com and he will provide you with a set.
  • For those that are unfamiliar with the alarm system. As you enter the foyer, turn immediately to your left, above the external bowls rack is the alarm panel which will be beeping. Enter 1892 on the keypad and the beeping will stop. When locking up, enter 1892 and press the FULL button. Beeping will start and you have time to exit and lock the door.
  • In the first update we requested that you make a contribution of £1 per person, per session, in order to help with the club finances. There have been concerns raised about having £1 coins available given that cash is now very rarely used. We have therefore decided that we will use the booking system as a register of use. Assuming we return to normal at some point (May/June) we will then request your contributions by Bank Transfer or Cheque as a single payment for the times that you have bowled.
  • For those that have mislaid the details of the online booking web page, use the following link to make bookings. https://scbc.setmore.com/bookappointment
  • For those that have not used it before but wish to bowl, the full booking guide is attached to this email.

A reminder that you should have paid your subs before you begin bowling.
The bank transfer details are, HSBC Sort Code 40-43-14 Account Number 30784834. Enter your name as reference. Cheques can be posted in the club letterbox at the gate or posted to Sylvia, 18 Golborn Avenue, Meir Heath, Stoke on Trent ST3 7LT

If you wish to have a go at the 100 Club, £1 per draw, 1 draw per month. Please pay £12 per go by bank transfer to HSBC Sort Code 40-43-14, Account Number 21414771 or by cheque as above. Note: - Different bank account.

WEBSITE

We have agreed a way forward to update the website but this will take a little time to organise. Please assume for now that information on the website is a little out of date. Thank you for your patience.

COMPETITIONS

We fully intend to run club competitions this season except the Edwards Cup (which involves a gathering). Lists of interested parties will be obtained via email so look out for these notifications shortly. Good luck for the coming season.
