Captain's Update No 1

INTRODUCTION
Many of you may be wondering what is likely to happen at the start of this season given the current situation with Coronavirus, Vaccinations and the Government announcement of Lockdown Easing. This is a short update on how we see the start of the season unfolding.

GREEN ACCESS
As you know the Government have announced that from the 29th March outdoor sports can commence. Indoor facilities must remain closed. The problem for organisers is that they have not issued any clear guidelines and have stated that we should comply with the guidelines provided by the appropriate sport’s governing body. These have not been forthcoming to date other than to maintain the ‘Rule of 6’.

In view of this the committee has decided that the best course of action for April is to maintain the online booking system that was so successful last year. You will be able to book either 3 Singles matches or 1 Singles match and 1 Doubles match in any 1 hour slot. The best we can do at the moment is to plan 1 Month at a time but hopefully by late June we will be able to return to near normal. The committee will be meeting in early April to discuss what we can do in May but you should expect this to be restricted bowling also up to Monday 17th May.

The green will be open for booked sessions from Monday 5th April. Play will be 11am to 4pm except during green maintenance periods, please see the booking calendar for details. Please bring your own bowls and jacks. Please note that there will not be any toilet facilities in this phase.

As you are aware all organisations have been financially affected during this last year and Stone Crown Bowling Club is no exception. We are therefore asking that each member contributes £1 for each session that you book. We will be providing an Honesty Box outside the clubhouse for you to make these contributions.

Please remember that although most of you will have been vaccinated by then we must remain vigilant. With a single dose the scientists are currently stating that you are likely to be 60% protected from catching Coronavirus and, if you catch it, 80% to 85% protected from serious illness. Therefore it is still better to avoid catching it.

Therefore we ask that you maintain the protective rules of keeping socially distanced, avoid sharing equipment, and maintain good hand hygiene. If you cannot maintain 2Mtr social distance you should wear a mask.

We are currently having difficulties maintaining the information and updates on the website. Please bear with us on this as we are working to improve the situation as soon as we can. In the meantime please do not access the website for update information. We will be using email in the interim period.
